Nick Hook ‘The Funky Muzik’

Jeepers! is a new house music label brought to you by virtuoso DJ/producers and house music aficionados Lee Morrison and Nick Hook.

Lee Morrison is a leading figure in the world of digital distribution, having run several labels and digital media companies including Wallop Recordings and alexLee.

He has been a well respected DJ for 13 years, gracing the decks at some of the top clubs across the UK including The Cross, Bagleys, the Chunnell Club and Ocean Rooms.

From DJing together at clubs in their adopted home town of Brighton, Lee and Nick decided it was time to launch a new label to release the music they and their vast collection of DJ/producer friends are currently producing.

The first single on Jeepers! is a track by Nick Hook himself, entitled ‘The Funky Muzik’.

Nick has been a house music DJ and producer since 1990 and has released more than 80 productions (including remixes) on labels including FFRR, Distinctive, Whoop!, React, Limbo, Baroque, Phonetic, DMC, Stress, Om, In Music, Wallop, Segment, Multiply… and many more.

Nick co-founded one of the early trailblazing progressive house music labels, the highly influential Om Records, in 1992.

He was also co-promoter/resident DJ at two of London’s most legendary progressive house clubs, Loosen Up and Whoop It Up!, in the 1990’s, not to mention having DJ’d at many of the top clubs in the UK and all over Europe.

As well as Nick’s many solo releases he has also recorded collaborations under various act names including First Life, Subterfuge, Casey Jones Effect, Pleasure Box and Soundsource.

His remix credits include Alex Neri, The Grid, Gusto, Saint Ettienne and, more recently, Luis Paris vs Adamski’s ‘One Of The People’ (First Life remixes), which is out now on Phonetic Recordings and one of the biggest tunes of 2007.

‘The Funky Muzik’, Nick’s 11th solo release, is a funky electro techy house music stomper with a big synth line that will rock any dancefloor.

The package also includes an unmissable remix by Nick’s First Life production partner, Martin Sharp.
