New trance anthem: ‘Somethin’s Up’
New trance anthem: ‘Somethin’s Up’
23 August, 2008 | 7.25PMTwo of the hottest up and coming trance producers have come together for one of the most exciting collaborations of 2008.
For anyone into their banging trance music this record will have been hugely anticipated, but its release last week means the wait is now over.
Being half of the rock trance duo ‘Dogzilla’, Simon Patterson
[pictured] is no stranger to the scene, but he is making a name for himself as a solo artist with tracks such as ‘F16’, ‘Bulldozer’ and ‘We’ll See’.
Following on from these releases, it’s only logical that he should join forces with Sean Tyas
, who is known for his energetic trance music.
Both artists have mastered the art of combining beautiful melodies with dirty basslines, and ‘Somethin’s Up’ is the perfect demonstration of this, with a piano melody in the break and a big acid riff in the climax.
The transition from hard to euphoric is seamless, meaning that halfway through the record you could find yourself thinking the track must have changed without you noticing because it sounds completely different.
The result is the ideal club track to get down to on the dancefloor, with a captivating breakdown which offers you the opportunity to catch your breath.
And with support from Tiesto, Armin, Sander van Doorn and Above & Beyond, ‘Somethin’s Up’ is set to be the next big room trance anthem.
