New releases from Francesco Diaz and Laura Kidd

Brief bits on two near recordings from Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels and Laura Kidd’s work with Michael Gray.

Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels

After dropping the singles ‘Human Animal’ and ‘Don’t You Want Me’ (together with Thomas Gold) on Joia Records, Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels return to Diaz’s own Musica Diaz Toro imprint for ‘It’s Our Future’.

Using the same vocal sample that Awex employed back-in-the-day on their rave standard, although this new version is pure electro-house.

With additional progressive mixes supplied by Deadmau5 (a regular in recent weeks on the Beatport charts with ‘Faxing Berlin’ and ‘Vanishing Point’ and remixes of Nu Breed’s ‘Nu Funk’ and Jorgensen’s ‘Untitled’ on Toolroom), and an uplifting version by Solee who keeps the memories of rave alive with his retro-retooling; while newcomers Sweno N & Pascal Vert go deep.

Laura Kidd

New from the always-reliable Eye Industries stable is Laura Kidd with the Michael Gray-produced single, ‘Automatic’ - a tougher, more electronic feel than his previous output, but in the export hands of Gray it’s full of hooks, melodies and dancefloor assurance.

Kidd, who’s previously worked with a number of established acts in the music industry, is also an established journalist writing for the Londonist blog, but that may have to be put on hold as supporters for ‘Automatic’ currently number the likes of Martijn ten Velden, DJ Paulette, Mark Knight, Eddie Thoneick, Pete Tong, Tom Novy and Axwell, so you know you’re onto something hot.
