New release ‘Ferris Street Volume 2’ Scott Ferguson (Ferrispark Records)

Title: ‘Ferris Street Volume 2’ :: Matrix: FPRCD005:: Artist: Scott Ferguson:: Release Date: February 26, 2008:: Only on BEATPORT

In southern Michigan completely surrounded by The City of Detroit lies a small community named Highland Park.  It was within these borders that Scott Ferguson [a] built his first studio on Ferris Street.  Renting two rooms in an old grand house, he used one room as a bedroom and the other for a recording studio.  During this time Ferrispark Records [l] came to be known to the underground dance world.  Tracks like “Dump Days” and “Bleed to be Free” were created and history was being made.

Ferris Street Vol.2 is the second album compiled of previously unreleased tracks produced by Scott Ferguson during this era.  The tracks on this album have the same soulful rawness as his early record releases, catching so many people’s attention.

The next installment starts off with the murmured and hypnotizing song, “Syquest Track” followed by the the endless chord progressions of “Chord Pushing”.  Next “Fries & Beer” mixes orchestrated strings with spattering High Hats, low timpani drums, and friendly filtered synth lead.  The fourth track “Some Direction” is lead by deep Fender Rhodes chords and keys interwined with flowing strings and melodic flute and saxophone melodies.  Romantic house music.  Track five “Train From Castellamonte” builds into a mixture of vibes, flute, and soft synth pads.  Next on the album “Strollin” begins with pleasant chords and piano keys eventually filtering into a emotional symphonic loop that raises one’s spirit.  Following is the funky and fun groover “Loop Filter” and “4U Bring Me, Joy”.  Both tracks should have you up and off your seat moving around the room.  Next is a rather odd dance track entitled “Why Me?” combining elements of House, Hip Hop, and Techno to make a fresh and interesting dance track.  Closing out the album is the alternative take of the dark and atmospheric “Gate To My Soul (108 Ferris Mix)” originally released on the German house label Deep Vibes.
