In the new digital era a new label from Québec, Canada pops up: Kickroach Recordings.

A chat with dj, producer and label owner Saul B follows.

Hello Saul. First of all, how it happened to come up with the idea of a label?

Well.. I was thinking and dreaming to have my own place where release whatever I wanted without any market restriction, you know, a place for friends and underground people.

And what is Kickroach, exactly?

I can say what is not Kickroach: a mainstream label.

Which genres/styles are you guys offering?

We are very open—there is not a specific genre, we like everything that sounds different and that fits with our ideas, we are releasing deep house, house, techno.

Let’s say maybe we are not too much into trance or breaks.. but who knows?

What do you think about music business today?

Today we are living big changes, there is a LOT of music and a LOT of good music too, but I have the feeling that soon a massive change will arrive, because nowadays the industry is very difficult, and if you want to survive you have to release music constantly and because you can’t constantly release good music, there is a lot of sh*t too.

Small labels are living difficult times but I am a positive person, I am sure things will get better.

Your plans for the future?

Be a millionaire and buy my own island [laughs].

Let’s say to make my label known and be respected, pay my bills, see the world, drink good wine.
