New ATFC on Toolroom is a charmer
21 March, 2008 | 1.43PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
The lead track from ATFC’s new Toolroom EP ‘Ya Killin’ Me’ is another well-crafted soundscape of funky beats, striking chords and edginess that with the added vocal hook really can’t help but make you smile.
A boisterous, bouncing chunk of tech-fueled house with a fervently catchy refrain, “don’t stop, don’t stop, don’t stop, ya killin’ me!”
It’s a potent piece of ATFC magic that will demolish a packed club and has already had repeat plays on the Essential Selection.
It’s backed with no-less then eight mixes of ‘Mothership’ – a rockin’ funkster which harks back to the days of Harry Choo Choo, Jose Nunez and Erick Morillo in their Subliminal infancy.
Of the mix package special mention goes to the chunky Original version and Bart B More’s bumpin’ electro rattler, while Mark Knight delivers a simple, yet highly complex arrangement of slow burning techno chords and melodies transforming the track into an energized jackin’ number that boarders on breaks, techno and prog-house genres.
