NAMM 2008: Five minutes with… DJ Rap

Pardon my eyes, but real talent and natural beauty are a killer combination in any industry.

We caught a killer showfloor DJ/VJ set in the Pioneer Pro DJ room from D & B provocatuese DJ Rap aka Charissa Saverio.

Afterwards, we chatted for a few minutes about her production.

What brings you to NAMM this year?

We’re in the process of finishing our record, so we’re looking at a lot of new products to help that along, as well as performing live.

What’s your favorite synth right now?

There are several.

It has to be FM8, Massive and Reaktor.

I love Native Instruments. They’re all over the new album.

I’ve also been checking out the Fender booth, as I’m also loving the Gibson Robot, which I just bought and used for the Seal show.

What workstation software are you using to craft your tracks?

Apple Logic is my primary sequencer, in conjunction with Ableton Live. I use them both simultaneously when I produce.

For the live gigs, we’re using the Main Stage app that comes with Logic.

Speaking of live gigs, what’s your current DJ rig?

I use all Pioneer equipment.

I just got the Pioneer SVM-1000, which I use alongside the Pioneer 800 mixer.

The decks are DVJ-1000s, as I use CDs only.

Anything you’d like to say to your Beatport fans?

Look out for a shitload of new music coming out on Propa Talent and Impropa Talent, along with my solo album, which will be called ‘Synthesis’.
