NAMM 2008: Five minutes with… Dave Aude
19 January, 2008 | 1.00PMClearly, Dave Aude
is one of the hit men in the current mainstream US progressive/electro scene these days.
With numerous chart-topping hits in the past two years, Aude’s sound is leading the way on the Billboard charts.
But there’s more to Dave than just commercial material, as his new remix for Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘New Path’ is quite powerful indeed.
After a slammin’ set in the Pioneer area, Dave took a moment to discuss his production techniques with Beatportal.
What brings you to NAMM?
I’m always looking for new ways to make new music.
What tools are forming the core of your sound these days?
I love my Virus TI.
I’m also in love with my vintage 808, which has the Studio Electronics tuning mod.
I track everything through a pair of Empirical Labs Distressors and I’m mixing down though the Neve summing amp.
And as for plug-ins?
My favorite new plug-in is Addictive Drums. It’s just amazing.
What sequencer do you use to craft your tracks?
I’m a big Pro Tools fan.
Anything you’d like to say to your Beatport fans?
Yeah, I’m sick of remixing everyone and their mother, so look out for a ton of original Dave Aude tracks this year!
