Music Is The Wine EP
Music Is The Wine EP
Seventeen Evergreen [Lucky Number]
15 February, 2008 | 3.13AMJangly American lo fi rock.
It seems to conjure images of road movies, wide open spaces punctuated with Joshua tree-esqe rock formations and highway 1 shimmering with heat haze.
Seventeen Evergreen
provides something akin to this, though more country tinged.
Full of boy/girl harmonies and strumming guitars that sit perfectly for a sunny Sunday afternoon or a shared sunset, it’s never going to set the world alight but pleasant enough stuff from the Northern Californians.
Joakim, the French purveyor of fine disco infused cuts, also provides three mixes on the release.
A Mix and accompanying Dub, plus also a Mix Edit (whatever that is?), none of them stray too far from the mood of the Original.
Joakim’s straight up Mix ups the strings quotient, while the Mix Edit adds some plinks and some plonks and a stuttering drum loop.
While all sounding very nice it doesn’t really achieve anything, neither sending the original an invite to the dance floor, whilst at the same time not being as taught and heart string plucking as the Original.
All in all, a fine slice of summer chill out, but nothing doing dance wise here, kids.
