Move D, Oliver Ho, Lawrence and Shackleton touch down at Freerotation Festival

This Friday 8th August sees the kick off of the Freerotation festival, which takes place in the surroundings of a stunning mansion on the Wales/England border and features Move D [pictured], plus many more.
With a music policy dedicated to cutting-edge electronic music, the festival is a unique experience for any fans of future leaning house, techno and dubstep.
Organised by Mindtours head honcho Steevio and friends, Freerotation started in 2007 and was, for many techno fans at least, the highlight of the summer.
With a relatively small but perfectly-formed crowd in attendance, the event saw artists including Redshape, Digital Mystikz, Mark Henning and Jackmate deliver excellent sets, alongside hosts of lesser known but no less talented DJs and emerging live acts.
With a strong emphasis on quality over trendiness, Freerotation has few simliarities with other events in the UK - or indeed, the rest of the world for that matter.
There’s even an option to sleep in one of the mansion’s many grand rooms, offering the archetypal British aristocratic experience, soundtracked by some of the finest, deepest, most innovative electronic music around.
Returning this year is headliner Move D, who after over 15 years of quietly honing his sublime blend of ambient electronics, deep techno, and pristine avant-house, finally seems to be gaining the wider recognition he deserves.
Along with Benjamin Brunn, he was responsible for the hugely acclaimed ‘Songs From The Beehive’ album on Smallville, which is already looking set to top many techno critics’ album of the year lists.
For a tougher experience, London’s Oliver Ho (aka Raudive) promises to blow out the cobwebs with one of his highly-rated DJ sets.
Of late, Ho has found a new generation of fans thanks to his Raudive releases on labels like Poker Flat and Cocoon, but to old-school heads he’s still best-loved for his stark, smart brand of techno that ruled the scene throughout the mid- to late’90s.
Like his peer Mark Broom, Ho’s years of experience combined with his ability to keep moving with the times has cemented his place in techno’s canon.
Or, if bowel-churning bass and beats are your thing, dubstep megalith Shackleton will be making another appearance, showcasing his unique amalgamation of reverb-drenched details and sci-fi sound design.
And if that’s not enough, shows from Andy Stott, Dandy Jack, Sonja Moonear and Portable should seal the deal.
Tea, cake, and techno in an English country garden - what could be finer?
