MOTU announces Traveler-Mk3
18 December, 2008 | 12.33PMMOTU’s Traveler audio interface has been a favorite of mobile producers since it was originally released several years ago.
So much so that it’s won an award or two.
With the release of the Traveler-Mk3, they’ve added a slew of improvements and amenities that continue to set it apart from the pack.
With eight channels of up to192kHz analog recording and playback - combined with twenty channels of digital I/O in ADAT optical, AES/EBU and S/PDIF formats - the Mk3 is definitely one of the most full-featured FireWire boxes available.
Here’s the rundown of new features in the Mk3:
- More inputs and outputs
- Latest-generation converters and preamps
- True hi-impedance guitar inputs
- V-Limit and Soft Clip overload protection
- Digital Precision Trim
- CueMix FX
- Leveler, an accurate model of the legendary Teletronix LA-2A
- Advanced audio signal analysis
- Flexible optical I/O
- Expanded front-panel control
- New MIDI Time Code support
- Support for the MOTU 8pre mic input expander
- Included AudioDesk 3 workstation software (a major upgrade)
- Powered by computer — no additional power supply necessary
- Optional battery power — standard field battery pack (sold separately)
- Individual 48V phantom power on each mic input
The full Traveler product page has far more detail than we can cover in this space – and Createdigitalmusic.com has an outstanding overview and commentary as well.
Our take?
Looks like MOTU has another winner on their hands.
The Traveler-mk3 is expected to ship Q1 of 2009 at the same price as the original award-winning Traveler.
