Morel grooves again
29 February, 2008 | 12.28PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
House don and groundbreaking producer George Morel opens his 2008 account with ‘Seduction’ on his self-run Miami-based Groove On label.
Echoing back to his innovative ‘Morel’s Groove’ EPs, this is another rhythm-smart cool, deep and highly seductive single made for late night sets and big room systems.
Those that know “Morel’s sound” will already be more then familiar with his creative genius, and he’s once more on form with a slow burner that takes time to bite.
But once it does, it’s clear this is a pit bull and no yapping chihuahua!
Getting the balance right between the simple and complex is a line so fine, but Morel is a master of the less-is-more theory of house production.
‘Seduction’ is a tripped out soundscape that conjures up a myriad of emotions and images held together by a haunting riff that never lets go, nor does the spoken dominatrix monologue that perfectly matches the climatic groove.
And there’s more good news on the Groove On tip, with the label set to release new material every other week covering a variety of styles, but all hand picked by Morel with an emphasis on the clubbing experience.
February will see singles from DJ Drexto (‘Funk It All Up’), Christian Falero (‘The Real’), Dennis Demens (‘Go’) and Roland Clark Vs Christian Falero (‘Colors Of My Beat’).
