Junkie XL [Nettwerk]
11 February, 2008 | 11.55AMThis six-track release is laden with a whole manner of remixes of the Junkie LX original.
Kicking things off is a contrasting pair of clean and dirty DJ Tocadisco licks.
He comes hard on this former – “Pacman is loving it!” screams Lauren Rocket as Tocadisco winds the track up to incredible levels of hype before dashing it down in your face.
It’s nice to see a varied bridge section here too with indie guitar giving everything a nice twist.
Tommie Sunshine’s electronica remix is one of the best of the bunch – moving away from the slightly predictable angle taken by Tocadisco and into what can only be described as “naughty school disco territory”.
D.I.M’s twisted take is nothing short of disgusting.
Expect manic, distorted audio-dirt spraying in your face here with unabashed regularity – a great one to drop at 2 a.m., and a brilliant overall production by D.I.M.
Matthew Dekay comes with a more techno-styled remix, which seems to build up forever, but this isn’t a bad thing – you’ll lap up every second.
Finally, Kraak & Smaak come with an extremely special remix that will make the dance floor go goo-goo ga-ga wherever you play it.
The fact that the vocals aren’t extremely annoying is a feat Kraak & Smaak should be commended for in their mouth-watering production.
