British DJ Damian Lazarus took a helluva long time to get into production considering his status as boss of the influential imprint Crosstown Rebels, and his high flying global DJ career.

‘Moment’ is his first ever release and the first single to be released from Lazarus’ forthcoming debut album on Get Physical Recordings, and it gives us some clue as to why Lazarus kept his cards close to his chest for so long.

Featuring sultry Björk-style vocals and Damian himself singing sweet harmonies, the downtempo minimal number is a very personal portrayal of an artist who in the past, may have been afraid to show the world what he has to offer.

By choosing the high path, Lazarus has managed to avoid the obvious pitfalls that come with delivering decent dancefloor fodder - as a successful DJ, a string of consistent disposable DJ-friendly records simply wouldn’t suffice - and he’s managed to showcase himself as a unique artist who is after your hearts as well as your feet.

In this industry, a Mr. Lonelyhearts stands out.
