Ikonika’s sound ideally complements the emotive expressionist sound of Hyperdub, exemplified by its master, Kode 9.

Combining elements of electronica and grime, the track is a long way off the wobbly boys music that her fellow dubstep piers have been marching out down in Croyden town.

Simple synth lines, electronic patterns and out-of-this-world, off-kilter beats drive this release, while the top melody is texturized by sublime key pattern loops.

The tune focuses more on the perception and awareness with aspirations to feel rather that to move.

Previous release ‘Please’ managed to turn all the right heads, and was a huge success among the likes of Vex’d and The Bug.

Setting a precedent for dubstep in 2009, Ikonika is leading the way with fellow ‘grime-tronica’ producers such as Starkey and Rustie. As modern dubstep becomes homogenized, this new developing trend is something to key an eye out for.
