Has it really been ten years since Plus 8 released an artist album?

Well, it seems like it.

Speedy J’s ’Public Energy No.1’ was the last artist album to be released on Richie Hawtin’s techno flagship—in 1997.

Now Plus 8 have announced a Mike Shannon album to come out in September [listen to Mike Shannon’s tracks after the jump].

That the third album of the Cynosure mastermind is coming out on Plus 8 might come as a surprise - but a welcome one that is.

Mike Shannon‘s follow up to his 2006 release ’Possible Conclusions To Stories That Never End’ on Berlin’s Scape imprint is titled ’The Memory Tree’ and is obviously going to be more dancefloor-orientated then his previous one,

Or as the press sheet claims: ” ... Shannon has put together a collection of tunes that are simultaneously dark and soulful, stays true to his roots while embracing the future and never fails to deliver a flurry of kick-ass, funk inflected beats.“

Sounds great.
