Miami resident Rivera wants ‘Candy’
27 March, 2008 | 1.34PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation, Miami WMC 2008
With the Winter Music Conference upon us, all eyes are focused on Miami, and one man in particular is sure to be reveling in the attention.
Miami resident Robbie Rivera knows the city better then most, and his trademark sound of epic breakdowns, rasping kick ‘n’ snare and quirky synth-lines have propelled him to the top of his game.
To tie in with the world descending on his doorstep, he’s lined up a plethora of new music to feature from his Juicy Music imprint including his latest single, ‘I Want Candy’.
Back in the day, this started life as a remix of a Candi Staton track (hence the name) with a short synth melody that became a massive underground track in Barcelona where the man spends his summers sunning and spinning.
With the help of Amnesia resident Les Schmitz, the two have recreated that simple hook, weaving a hypnotic spell laced with Latin spice and tribal madness.
I guarantee this peak-time monster that will drive you crazy both on and off the dancefloor.
