Metropole Orkest performs Basement Jaxx

gotten… respectable? Where other DJs hitting midlife are going out and buying Ferraris, house music’s original rude boys are donning tuxedos (and, we hope, monocles) and teaming up with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest to present orchestral versions of the Jaxx’ biggest hits.
On July 14 and 15, under the direction of conductor/arranger Jules Buckley, the Metropole Orkest will present a full program of “classical” Jaxx at London’s Barbican Hall, performed by a 60-piece orchestra and 20-person choir; the repertoire will also include new material written by Basement Jaxx’ Felix Buxton specifically for the event. (See here for tickets and details.) And on July 11, Atlantic Jaxx Recordings will release an album of the material on CD and digital download.
