Metroline Limited’s third release, ‘Tensor EP’, by Italian rising stars Minimal Cadets is out now.

Minimal Cadets, a new upcoming techno act from Italy, are Gab, Fabrizio and Mathew Mir - all from Cagliari, Sardinia.

Their output is a mix of fresh minimal/Detroit/dub inspired techno.

After meeting each other during summer 2006, the 3 decided to join forces.

A couple of months of studio work, discussions around the scope and musical concepts, were enough for the Minimal Cadets’ sound to take its present shape.

Gab says: “Everything happened quickly and all went fairly smooth.

“After adding a few pieces of equipment and discussing what we wanted to do, we immediately started writing down ideas and in a couple of months had already several tracks finished.

“We share the same vision and passion and immediately found the right balance.

“Me and Mathew are DJs and Fabrizio has always been a clubber.

“The dance floor bias in our work is clear and it’s paramount for us to make tracks that are both danceable and suitable for personal listening.”

Gab (46), aka Gabriele Pinna, is a DJ and a producer.

Surrounded by music lovers, musicians, vinyl records, musical instruments and equipment since he was a kid, his DJ career spans for more than 3 decades.

He started producing in London in 1996.

Pinna is regarded as one of the early pioneers of on the minimal techno underground scene in Italy.

Fabrizio and Mathew (31 & 26) are brothers and owners of Boost, a small project studio based in a three-room flat in Cagliari which opened in 2001.

Their early productions were inspired by the techno from Naples and Berlin during the second half of the ‘90s, as well as the German electronica scenes.

Fabrizio is a producer and Mathew is also a DJ.

Quirky and funky 5 tracker EP, ‘Tensor’ from Minimal Cadets on Metroline Limited, starts with ‘Path’, a dark tech funk with body shacking bassline.

Both the dark minimal and groovy ‘Reflexion’ and the head bopping ‘Symmetrical’, are strong dance floor burners where Minimal Cadets showcase their trademark sound full of funk and clever use of reduced sounds and micro hooks.

The dark and atmospheric hip jacking grooves of ‘Tensor’ and the rolling funk of ‘Variance’ complete this fantastic collection of minimal techno tracks where the tension keeps building with subtle developments and otherworldly synth melodies, pads and effects, whilst always keeping a dark atmosphere.
