aficionados will be very familiar with underground German producers Trickski
who have just released their compilation ‘Members of The Trick’ to critical acclaim.
The ‘MOTT’ concept has been a showcase for Trickski and artists closely affiliated with them, both in sound and personality.
‘Meerkats’ is episode nine in the mini series and sees Trickski sharing the limelight with Solomun
.
‘Lost Tape’ by Trickski is a smoking cauldron of crunchy percussion and menacing stabs.
The mid-level beats signal that this isn’t one for the podium massive; instead, it’s a murky beast with a dark underbelly.
Just enough energy is emitted to get the bodies moving while a thick pulsing test tone jams into your brain.
This will certainly provide the soundtrack to many a lost hour in a club.
The dub version is for those who like it stripped back and to the point.
Solomun enters the fray with a track which appears on the ‘MOTT’ compilation, and what a standout piece it is.
‘Black Rose’ is an emotive slice of old skool Detroit laced with spellbinding pianos and strings to bring a tear to the eye.
The dub ‘White Rose’ forgoes the lush instrumentation for a feet friendly workout.
