Meet…Toggle Recordings

A brand new label has joined the Beatport family. Toggle Recordings [l] out of Denver and Detroit focuses on deep tech house, tripped out progressive and groovy techno and if its first two releases are anything to go by, Toggle could soon become a big hitter. Beatportal caught up with label owner Brad Cavender to find out more about Toggle.

What’s Toggle all about?

“Our label believes in producing tracks that bend the lines between traditional genres of electronic music.

“We won’t ever be accused of sticking to one style.

“To that point, on most of our releases there will be distinctly different remixes of the same track.”

Why will Toggle be a success?

“Our artists are mostly related (the Cavender Family) and have had successes in the music business outside of Toggle Recordings for the past ten years.

“We are committed to continually being able to put out high quality and diverse tracks on our terms.”

Is it hard starting up a new label?

“The initial concept was simple – pool our resources and get our tracks out.

“The commitment is there and we already have a large amount of tracks ready to go.

“Now the biggest challenge is marketing and getting people to listen to our music.”

Has the digital revolution helped Toggle?

“Yes, it has been very important. The digital realm has allowed us to be an up-start with a lot less overheads than a label that is starting out and relying solely on vinyl or CD sales.”

So you won’t be releasing on vinyl?

“We will eventually release a collection of our best selling tracks on vinyl.

“It’s where we all started and as a label we respect that some people want to stick to that medium.

“I still have turntables, but I love the availability of digital music.”

Are any early bird DJs or artists supporting your label yet?

“We are very new, but because of our artists’ involvement with other labels such as Wagon Repair, Guidance, Om, Lo-Rise, and MileHighHouse we have had great support.”

What plans do you have for Toggle in next 12 months?

“We will be releasing new singles every three weeks with unique remixes for each one.

“We all love downtempo tracks in addition to dancefloor tracks, so expect that soon too.

“We will also be putting out a compilation CD and vinyl, and our artists will be playing out live more often.”
