Meet Addiction, Chicago’s next big producer

Meet Addiction, Chicago’s next big producer

I recently got a chance to sit down with Michael Sansone aka Addiction and asked him a few questions about his amazing production talent, that is sure to have labels clamoring to get their hands on one of his releases.

Here is what he had to say.

Where were you when your interest for music started and how was it started?

Back in the town of Melrose Park in ‘99 was when it all started. My older brother was a DJ and I could never compete with him so I looked into production and I’ve been hooked and kicking his ass ever since.

Why do you think your sound stands out?

Over the years I’ve tried my hand at just about every different genre of electronic music and I think from that I’ve developed a very original sound.

Which artist or producer has inspired you the most over the years?

Switch. It wasn’t until I first heard him that i found someone else who believed in making music fun.

You hear a lot of tracks get put out that are good but have no substance to it. There’s that something missing, something that’s been missing for a long time and Switch delivers in every way possible. The man’s a genius.

What’s in your iPod right now?
Dean Martin to Biggie and everything in-between. It’s no fun to just listen to only one kind of music now is it?

If you could remix any artist in the world who would it be and why?
Walter Meego. These guys are crazy. I just recently heard of them and I can’t stop listening. It’s like Daft Punk + Queen. I would love to get on some remix work for them.

How important is the digital revolution?
I think it’s one of the most important things for electronic musicians to date. It’s universal, everyone’s got an mp3 player and the internet now a days.

And as far as for the Djs it’s all gone towards CD players, it only makes sense going digital.

It’s easier to get what you want and like from anywhere, instead of going to a record shop that’s most likely quite a trip just to not find anything you like.

What plans do you have for the next 12 months as a producer?
To put out music that people can listen to in the car, at home, hear it at a club/bar/event and have a kick ass time. I want to get heads noddin and people dancing and having fun.

If you could DJ anywhere in the universe where would that be?
The Sun.

Addictions first release will be out 08/26/2008 on Direct Drive Digital titled “Bitch Don’t Cry” co produced by long time friend The Roach.
