Mechanique ‘A Place To Be EP’ (Composure UK)

Mechanique ‘A Place To Be EP’ (Composure UK)

After a series of well received remixes for Composure, Mechanique [a] went globe trotting with his laptop, stopping off in Brazil for a series of tour dates in 2007 before nailing his first Composure EP down.

His DJ sets are carved up in Ableton and if you check the footage on Mechanique’s myspace, you will get a taster for his sound and skills, a mixture of minimal and progressive but with a distinctly retro techno edge to his work.https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/90192/a_place_to_be_ep

The “A Place To Be EP” is a collection new and older material. “A Place To Be” is a chunky and deeply atmospheric number with a tough house groove, whispered vocals and bleepy synths. “The Berliner” again touches on a moody techno vibe, simple driving drums, minimal bass lines and electro bleeping. Think dark rooms and strobe lights. “Frenetic” does what it says, progressive technoised synth runs pound away in a retro floor destroying style and finally “Magari” finishes off in a similar vein, more pounding drums and synth runs but with just enough creative tweaks to keep you hooked. This is a complete EP for Composure taking in four different genres but at all times there is a signature sound to Mechanique’s work that makes it stand out. A quality EP for sure.
