More and more drum & bass producers continue to get involved with house in all its forms to further explore their creative potential.
On this release, you get an electro house original by Super Style Deluxe and Sonny Wharton, and a drum & bass lick by Drumsound and Bassline.
It must be said — the electro house mix is killer.
Its groove is full of soul and energy, which will keep heads nodding for its entire duration.
The bassline rocks too; a flanged square wave skulks around the bottom of the mix like shit on a dancing shoe and rude boy vocals add grit and character.
All of this is punctuated by a manner of clever synthy stabs and FX — production tricks that only a true veteran could pull off.
Moving onto the drum & bass number — the vocals here are time-stretched to hell, and Simon “Bassline” Smith and Drumsound offer up the listener some heavy, dirty sonic stabs.
These stabs morph into a crazy pattern on the drop, complemented by some sumptuous drums that roll all over the place due to some expertly interwoven congas.
This is classic drum & bass and something that will have dance floor inhabitants in fits.
Interestingly, in the middle, it flips down to a breaks tempo, sewing up a fantastic release in all.
