Max Graham @ Mansion NYC
21 April, 2008 | 10.55PM- Section: Videos
Miami has officially invaded New York.
The owners of Mansion in South Beach have bought the old Crobar space in New York and have renovated the space, making the huge dance floor into a VIP area.
The space has a nice aura of stones and fire. The crowd is hip and beautiful with less club than Crobar and more glam, but in a good way. This past Saturday saw Max Graham in the booth who broke onto the scene around 2000 with the massive hit “Airtight”. One of the pioneers of the chuggy progressive beat that came out of that era, Max has been traveling the world and remixing ever since. He was very nice in answering some technical questions I had. He’s been DJing with Abelton for the past 18 months and loves it. Suprisingly, he’s been using Cubase as his production sequencer for over a decade. The key to his chuggy beats is the driving sub. He spun a solid four hour set, a little more commercial that what he normally plays, successfully reading the crowd before him. It was a great night and Mansion will be a great addition to the New York nightlife scene. Thanks to Max Graham and promoter John Perez for their support of Beatport.
