Matthias Heilbronn ‘Brooklyn Sub EP’
Matthias Heilbronn ‘Brooklyn Sub EP’
18 May, 2008 | 10.10AMHaving been taken under the wings of Larry Levan, Francois K, Frankie Knuckles, Danny Tenaglia and even C&C Music Factory over the past two decades, Matthias Heilbronn’s resume makes impressive reading.
On top of that fine milieu, he’s also recorded for the crème of US house labels over the last decade, including Wave, King Street, SAW and MAW.
Matthias Heilbronn
now crosses the Atlantic and arrives in Bristol at the door of NRK Records for the release of the ‘Brooklyn Sub EP’.
Instead of plying his deep and soulful house studio savvy of old, Matthias instead fuses the classic sound of New York house with a tougher electronica underbelly that’s currently sweeping Europe.
The ‘NY Sub Mix’ in particular is a strong analog foundation layered with jazzy chords and funk-embellished beats, while the aptly named ‘Soulflower Sax Mix’ features the Groove Collective‘s Jay Rodriguez delivering a mesmerising saxophone solo.
Refreshingly different.
