Matthew Dear’s ‘Dog Days’ gets remixed

‘Dog Days’ dropped in 2003 as the preliminary single off his debut album ‘Leave Luck to Heaven’ and packed a buoyantly poppy punch that placed Matthew Dear [a] solidly in the center of the techno map.

At five years old, it’s time for this dancefloor favorite to get a makeover from French house label Robsoul members DJ Sneak [a], Phil Weeks [a] and Chris Carrier [a].

Sneak adds his own wonky twist of twang, punctuated with whistles and his signature Chicago feel in the ‘420’ rework.

Phil Weeks pulls the rhythm over a rubbery loop in a more minimally-minded and stripped back style, while Chris Carrier cuts it up and dubs it out on the B-side, fading the vocals in and out in a ghostly kind of way and sprinkling the arpeggiated synth throughout.
