Matt Tolfrey ‘Shakil’
9 October, 2007 | 5.16AMBritain’s Matt Tolfrey
has been getting better and better in the studio, and his latest ‘Headquarters EP’ on his own highly respected label Leftroom Recordings might just be the record that pushes him into the upper echelons of the techno community.
Whilst lead track ‘Enter The Hat’ and its Claude VonStroke remix have been getting loads of positive feedback from the likes of Troy Pierce, Arnaud Rebotini, Paul Woolford and DJ Sasse, it’s the original mix of ‘Shakil’ that really makes me want to get my groove on.
Konrad Black and Stephan Bodzin love it too.
Will Saul reckons: “Shakil has enough energy and groove to really work the peak time floors.”
This is trendy tech house with a nasty bassline, and ‘Shakil’ has already been caned on all of London’s coolest floors.
Matt Tolfrey is well on his way to becoming a big name, watch out.
