Mathew Leutwyler’s releases on Traumschallplatten, Perspektiv,
Apparillo, and Caravan, as well as track appearances on Global
Underground and Cream compilations have endeared him to an
ever-expanding audience.

Mathew kicks of La Folia Recordings 2009 releases with the
‘Stories In Books EP’. ‘Stories In Books’ is a collection of four
musical short stories who’s distinguishing characters meander
through a misty landscape of lullabies, dreams, nightmares, and
fairy tales.

musical short stories who’s distinguishing characters meander
through a misty landscape of lullabies, dreams, nightmares, and
fairy tales.

In ‘Stories In Books’, Mathew uses a field recording device to
record sounds in the natural environment and edits them into
percussion sounds and atmospherics. Clinking ice cubes, and the
panting of sled dogs have been meticulously tweaked and edited
into glitchy beats and bitcrushed sounds.

Mathew Leutwyler has been djing and performing in cities around
the world such as Philadelphia, NYC, Miami and Los Angeles in the
United States to London, Amsterdam and Madrid in the EU, most
recently touching down in Guatamala City in Central America.
Since moving to Mexico two years ago he has headlined at a few of
it’s top festivals (Rockarga Festival @ Teotihuacan, Tunnel
Festival @ Guanajuato) and toured almost every important city in
the country along the way. He has released on world renowned
labels Silver Planet Recordings, Traumschallplatten, Apparillo
Music, Perspectiv Records, and Caravan Records. His music has
appeared on several mix cds in countries such as Germany, Japan,
Greece and Holland, on “Global Underground: Shanghai” and Eddie
Halliwell’s “Cream Ibiza”.

Samantha Pierpoint, a Birmingham based designer and illustrator
conceived Mathew Leutwylers ‘Stories in Books EP’ cover artwork.
Samantha’s work revolves around pattern and strong, bright colour
palettes. By layering a diverse range of papers and breaking away
from the standard rule of illustrating on the page, S.A.M. makes
her work come to life in a unique vibrancy. Samantha is highly
influenced by music and different cultures from around the world.
