Mark Of The Unicorn announces new FireWire interface

At the NAMM show, we had a private demonstration of MOTU’s then-unannounced 828mk3 FireWire Interface.

Unfortunately, we had to keep the juicy details under our hats for a bit.

This week, they unveiled the specs of this remarkable new device for both Mac and Windows.

Read on for more specifics…

While we’ve been fans of MOTU’s hardware for quite some time, the 828mk3 is a quantum leap forward from previous models, including ten channels of 192 kHz analog recording and playback, sixteen channels of ADAT digital I/O and stereo S/PDIF, and built in mixing and effects.

The built-in mixer is especially noteworthy as it includes 7-band EQ and a wide variety of routing options.

Amazingly, it also includes MOTU’s new 828mk3 Leveler, an impressive recreation of the legendary Teletronix LA-2A Optical Leveling Amplifier (that’s “compressor” to you and me).

In addition, the 828mk3 includes MOTU’s Classic Reverb, an extremely high-quality reverb with all of the essential amenities.

It’s great to see MOTU raising the bar for audio interfaces and we definitely look forward to checking this one out in person.

Look for a test drive in the coming months.
