Mariano Trocca: Updating his set using Traktor 2 and Ableton

On Friday 6th. Trocca [a] is going to present for the first time his new format to play live. Integrating lots of tools to keep him and the crowd entertained with a variety of sounds.

Trocca [a], Arjaus Records’ spiritual guide is going to present this friday at Bahrein a new live format. On the very beginning Trocca [a] started to play with vinyls, after that he played for a little while with CDJs and seven years now he started to make live remixing with Ableton Live, Being referent of Ableton’s in Argentina. To play DJ set he’s been using Traktor with vinyls time cods for a some years, now.

Trocca [a] is now integrating both formats, playing with Traktor 2 (with vinyl time codes) and Ableton Live. This mix creates a unique sound because he’s creates his own platform.

Mariano says: “a setup today is like Lego. There are so many pieces to create a unique sound mixing formats, even if you use the same tools, with more pieces your sound becomes more original.”

In his new set Traktor is controlled by the mixer, the turntables and a dedicated surface on the AKAI APC 40. Ableton uses 2 channels on the mixer, one with sounds and the other one with effects.

“Today a DJ must be a Live performer to make the difference. Polish his own style, reach the limit. Create an art piece on each set, mix two tracks is not enough. The dancefloor wants to see human energy getting out of the booth”, says Trocca [a].

His Lego pieces are: AKAI APC40 controlling 8 channels in Live. The MIDI controller is custom programed to use six different surfaces: navigate Live, navigate Traktor, classic ableton clips view, drum rack panels, scales and chords to play an operator synth. A mix that makes his sets original and unique on every gig.

Trocca [a] concludes: “My objective is to entertain the crowd with a sound variety and to keep the people and myself energetic and having fun. Pure intensity.”
