Manumission: the most stylish crew in Ibiza?

One of the idiosyncrasies of Ibiza club nights is that often promoters will parade through the old part of Ibiza Town on the night of their party in order to promote it.

Club night Manumission has been doing the street parades longer and better than anyone else.

“We paraded every Monday for 12 years through the streets of Ibiza Town, and now we do it every Friday,” Manumission’s organiser Mike told Beatportal during last night’s walk.

About five parades came through the old town yesterday, but by far the most sophisticated and glamourous parade was Manumission’s, the club night that shocked the world by introducing live sex shows in the mid-1990s.

Led by a dwarf, a team of genetically perfect dancers dressed in burlesque-inspired clothing chanted songs about Manumission.

Two girls dressed like catwoman licked and purred their way through the streets asking bemused tourists if they “liked to stroke pussies.”

“It takes a few hours to get into the costumes,” said Mike, who comes up with the extravagant themes for Manumission each year with his wife Claire.

How do Mike and Claire find their performers?

“There’s a strict screening process, as we only want the most talented or unusual performers,” said Mike.

“For instance, that girl over there can do the most amazing things with her vagina.”
