Made To Play’s Made ‘N’ Mixed EP
Made To Play’s Made ‘N’ Mixed EP
16 September, 2011 | 6.41AMJesse Rose and his outfit of house hooligans have no problem producing house music of the highest degree, and their latest release, the ”Made ‘N’ Mixed” EP, proves it once again. Like just about everything on Made To Play, their most recent is lightly laced with subtle vocals, wrapped in a big chunky layer of four-to-the-flour fatness, and deeply nestled in a bottomless barrel of funk. If the national tragedy of the summer’s end had a soundtrack, it would be this. For “Made ‘N’ Mixed” has the power to vault you back into that poolside Adirondack like a Mordorian catapult over the walls of Minas Tirath. A little inside, I know.
Homework‘s “Rally Racquet Club” starts off the EP with a rework by Mr. chart-topper himself, Oliver $ and friend Alias Jonez. A perfect precursor to Monkey Safari‘s remix of Zombie Disco Squad‘s African-esque tech-houser “Pinky.” Monkey Safari take out another original in their rework of Round Table Knights and Ghostape‘s “All Night,” a deep-house chugger with the Rhodes pleasantries that all the ladies on the dance floor love to hear. Closing out the release is Paolo Rocco‘s remix of Round Table Knights’ hugely successful “Say What?!” with an old-school flavor. That hi-hat, oh my, what perfection. Pick all the tracks up for yourself here, and summer may stick around for a little while longer—if only in your mind.
