Luke Fair sticks by his house guns on new CD
30 March, 2007 | 5.01AMUS DJ Luke Fair
recently unveiled his new Balance mix CD, which refreshingly doesn’t contain a single minimal techno record.
Despite the unstoppable minimalisation of electronic music, Luke has chosen to stick by his house guns on his ‘Balance 011’ double CD for EQ Recordings, which is as colourful as a gay street parade.
Stripped down it ain’t.
“The mood of my Balance mix captures the sound of an entire night at a club,” said Luke, who in the spirit of all the Balance mix CDs, has used his session to cram a whole night’s dancefloor action into a couple of hours.
“The mix is a full set from open to close.
“It starts out with deep house, then moves onto funky house and techno before finishing off with melodic progressive towards the end.”
On CD 1, blissful house cuts from Hypnos ‘Red Light’ sit alongside tripped out tribal beats from Acca ‘Rain’.
The mood is very much deep and seductive.
Luke Fair
then uses CD 2 to explore his more progressive roots, with tracks from artists like 16 Bit Lolita’s and Subtech. It’s very much a Bedrock style mix CD.
“Every track has been heavily edited to personalize the mix a bit more, with lots of layering to make the whole thing as colourful as possible,” commented
Luke.
‘Balance 011’ mixed by Luke Fair will be released worldwide in April.
