Snuff Crew [Playhouse]

With a tip of the hat to classic Chicago house, Snuff Crew [a] deliver a fantastic housey techno EP on Playhouse that will delight DJs both old and new.

With three cuts of superbly crafted, percussive-driven techno, the EP manages to sound wholeheartedly from the early 90s, but also still sounds fresh at the same time. Wow, Playhouse saved a real beauty for their 150th release!

‘I Like It’ is an acid house flavoured rub with aggressive snares and plenty of hypnotism, ‘Lovefreak’ is a dirty tech houser with a jumbled bassline, and ‘The Name’ (which is a digital exclusive) is an uptempo mainroom filler that will do serious damage mid sets.

The red line running through all three is classic drum sounds and nasty beat sampling.

It’s not often that you come across an EP that’s been as carefully considered as ‘Lovefreak’ and all three tracks on the EP are similar enough to play on their own depending on the energy level you wish to reach, but unique enough to play back to back for a good 20 minute old skool blend.

Absolute quality from beginning to end.
