Louie Vega interview
4 July, 2007 | 3.15AM“It was an out of body experience to compose and perform the song,” Louie Vega
, one of America’s most prolific house producers, tells Beatportal. Louie Vega’s ‘One Dream’ track received the biggest ever launch stage for a house record when it debuted during the pre-game warm-up to this year’s Super Bowl.
A TV audience of over a billion caught the Amercian football game, which puts Louie just behind DJ Tiësto for the record for the biggest ever DJ gig (the Dutch trance superstar did one better by playing during the opening ceremony to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens).
As one half of the Masters At Work
, the producer, DJ and remixer has been one of the biggest stars in dance music for many years, but nothing could have prepared Louie for his career-defining gig
on February 4th 2007.

“I played ‘One Dream’ alongside Cirque Du Soleil, and what an honor it was,” says Louie.
“Writing the track came very natural to us (Blaze and I). I worked really well with Cirque Du Soleil’s creative director Fernand, he made it so comfortable and gave me lots of freedom musically.
“Anane was a pleasure to work with as well as the EOL family.”
With over a billion people watching, Louie Vega’s phone went on overdrive following the show.
“The response was amazing,” he reveals. “I have never had so many phone calls and texts from around the world.
“There were many positive people, and we received lots of love. We were there to represent all forms of dance and we’re proud of that.”
Did Louie ever think that his DJ career would take him all the way to the Super Bowl?
“I never thought it would get this far, winning a Grammy and performing at the Super Bowl.
“Its a blessing and I’m very grateful.”
