London’s T Bar set to reopen

London’s T Bar set to reopen

One of London’s top clubs is set to reopen tomorrow night, two weeks after closing its doors to improve security.

The much-loved T Bar club on Shoreditch High Street closed last week in order to improve its anti-crime measures after an undercover cop caught drug dealers operating inside.

T Bar’s boss Jaime Ritchie told Beatportal, “We’ve added a new CCTV system, a metal detector, and made sure all the fixtures and fittings are secure.

“Because of the amount of work that needed doing we had to close for two weeks – we weren’t forced to close by drugs police as the Evening Standard [newspaper] suggested.

“We’ve never had a problem with crime at the T Bar, so these new anti-crime measures are not reactionary but preventative.”

By closing for two weeks, the T Bar has also been able to enjoy a much-needed new lick of paint.

“Yeah we thought whilst we were closed, we might as well do some spring-cleaning,” said Jaime.

“So the bar is now pink, and the whole place looks fresher.”

But with the new anti-crime measures and refurbishment will T Bar lose some of its underground charm?

“We were really careful during the refurbishment to make sure that the room still looks and feels the same.

“Regulars won’t notice anything different inside the club, except in the entrance there’s now a big sign telling you what you can and can’t do, plus a metal detector.”

The first party at the new T Bar will be Haywire with Shelley Parker on Thursday 3rd May.

And then over the Bank Holiday weekend, Ditched Disco, Optimo and Dig Your Own Rave will all rock the club.

Also, on Bank Holiday Monday Damian Lazarus will host his last ever Stink party at T Bar.

“Basically by Tuesday, the new paint will all be cracked and stained and I’ll be pulling my hair out,” joked Jaime.
