Last week saw the launch of the world’s biggest ever DJ competition, with Pioneer, Beatport, DJ Magazine, and Letsmix.com teaming up to try and find the Next Generation DJ (NGDJ).

With the contest all about exposing new talent, Beatportal will highlight one NGDJ mix every two weeks in order to raise awareness about the jockey that produced it. The idea is to help the profile of newcomer DJs.

Therefore, without further ado, may we present our first NGDJ talent: Mentalcut. Click through to listen to his mix entry.

Mentalcut is a DJ, producer and event promoter from Poland. With a background in hip hop and turntablism, he penned a five minute cluster-crush of a mix, that see him switch rapidly through ghetto tech, broken beat, house, UK garage, hip hop, rave cuts, and even Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ with the dexterity and precision of energy-drink obsessed octopus. Fancy hands indeed.

Over his DJ career, he has shared the stage with Scottie B, DJ Assault, Kazey, Rico Tubbs, Tomb Crew, L-Vis 1990, Dizzee Rascal, Kid Fresh, J-Bounce, Rafik, Dexplicit, Tigerstyle and Bill Youngman, as well as done shows in Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic and Poland.
