is always a breath of fresh air in the D&B scene, and here he comes with a soaring, uplifting release in the form of ‘Lift Me Up’ that features a sparkling female vocal and, of course, tough, tough beats that clunk away like the iron wheels of a gargantuan steam train.
You can tell this is a goodie right from the off, because it’s very visual – it makes you think of all kinds of images and scenes.
Going with the steam train metaphor, you can just see the train in the movie ‘Back To The Future III’ hurtling down the track towards a canyon, with green, red and yellow smoke flying everywhere… and later on its transformation into a flying time machine!
And no, we haven’t been smoking the wacky baccy down at Beatport (what with the smoking ban and all).
And yes, this track is much better than that poor threequel.
‘Memories’ is a straight up A.I.-style production, with that slow LFO’d midrange and bass playing out underneath skull-tapping beats and the obligatory orchestral strings.
‘Memories’, therefore, is more useful as some sort of a bridge between your more spectacular mixes – a tool to keep the crowd a-boppin’ before you hit ‘em really hard.
