Lewis Ryder Wins a DJ Residency at Space Ibiza!

22-year-old DJ/producer Lewis Ryder from London, UK has been announced as the final winner of DJsounds.com’s Space Ibiza DJ competition – meaning he bags a residency at the mega-club in 2009.

And, as a bonus, he also gets to play at this year’s Space closing party on Sunday 5th October!

Definitely one to watch, Lewis DJs regularly at events like Jaded at The End in London, and since 2006 even hosts his own night, Hindsight, at clubs such as Egg.

Production-wise, ‘Empty Draw’, a track that Lewis used in his DJsounds video mix was the very first release on his own label, Bigger Deer Recordings.

A Beatport exclusive, ‘Empty Draw’ was supported by the likes of James Zabiela, Dylan Rhymes, Funk D’Void, and DC10 DJ Andrew Grant, while the much-anticipated follow-up, ‘Techno Birds’ is due out in November.

Upon receiving the news, an understandably delighted Lewis said: ‘Touch me, I’m famous! Seriously, though, it’s beer-guzzlingly good news. There were lots of great contestants, so it is an honour to be chosen as the winner of DJsounds’ Space Ibiza comp! It looks like Space will definitely be the place for me in 2009, and I can’t wait to get back in the booth!’

Space Ibiza’s artistic director, Juan Arenas, reflected: ‘All the participants have been great and it has been extremely difficult to chose a winner, but Lewis has shown us a great passion with his fresh music and most definitely has a lot of future in this business.’

The final four heat winners were as follows:

Heat 1: Lewis Ryder www.myspace.com/lewisryder

Heat 2: Carlton (aka Boltongroove) www.boltongroove.com

Heat 3: Matt Cooper www.myspace.com/djmattcooper
