Letters
Koma and Bones [Burrito Records]
17 December, 2007 | 4.18PM- Section: Music Reviews
Oh dear!
You all know this track.
If you don’t, then you’re in for a fucking treat because popping your cherry to ‘Letters’ is akin to the roughest shag you’ve ever had in your life – right up against the bedpost.
While some producers make their electro house dirty for the sake of it, Koma & Bones are dirty.
Their middle names are dirty — too dirty in fact to print in this review.
The late Ol’ Dirty Bastard has nothing on these mucky pups…
You get the picture — this is a dirty tune.
So, how to describe ‘Letters’?
“One of the top three electro tracks of the year, without a doubt” is fair game.
Building up, and after launching an infamous vocal sample, it just explodes in your face with all the force of a letter bomb sent from Osama Bin Laden’s cave to the Bush residence.
Experiencing it on a dancefloor feels like a shot of pure to the veins.
Then, as it evolves, Koma & Bones produce some masterful [some might say genius] exercises in sound design.
The crazy production tricks and microscopic editing on show in the middle of ‘Letters’ is of a quality that should justifiably land Koma & Bones a job for Warner Brothers’ audio team working on Matrix 4.
It really is that good.
So click “buy”.
Now.
