Laidback Luke announces remix contest winner

Laidback Luke’s “Timebomb” remix contest has been ticking along for two months, and now we’re finally ready with the explosive results!

Read on to find out who won, and watch a video announcement from Luke himself.

The winning remix comes from Vienna’s Wolfgang Fischer—better known, perhaps, as DJ Observer, a producer with numerous tracks out on labels like Black Hole Recordings [l] and 405 Recordings [l]. His mix was among the top-spun entries that were passed along to Laidback Luke and Mixmash Records for consideration. As the winner, he’ll have his remix released on Mixmash, and he also takes home a “Timebomb” MP3 speaker signed by Laidback Luke, a Native Instruments Maschine, and a $200 Beatport voucher.

Fischer told us, “It’s been four weeks since I sent in my remix for Laidback’s Luke ‘Timebomb’ remix contest, and I never expected what happened right now. There have been really a lot of good remixes, and the fact that my remix has been chosen makes me both happy and proud. I want to say thank you to my studio partner D’Kay and of course to Laidback Luke and his team! Also thanks to Beatport and to my fans and frieds! Can’t wait for the official release, YESSS!!!”

The top-spun entry, with 115 spins, came from Israel’s Shoam & Gavriel, a pair of producers with releases out on Recovery House, Squeeze Music, and Kistchy Records, among other labels; they take home $50 in Beatport credit.

Congratulations to our winners, and thanks to everyone that entered, listened, and voted!
