So far the third track signed to the rising label, Drift Away features the Original Mix alongside the Blinky Club Mix and Liluca
Remix. Since its release Drift Away has garnered support from a distraticly wide array of DJs, including Armin van Buurren, Dubfire, Andy Moor, Jaytech, Elke Kleijn and many others.
Tony Stevens who produces under the guise of Kultrun, is a bright young talent of the Australian music scene with several releases to date - most recently Drift Away. Kultrun’s Original Mix takes its time building into a laid back groove centering on the main arpeggio. About mid-way, the track really comes together with all the elements piecing together to form a melodic Progressive House tune. Blinky uses his Club Mix on the other hand to take a small portion of the track; namely the arpeggio, pads and saw bassline. Then adding his own percussion and subtle elements, he creates a magnificent club monster - driving and melodic, yet retaining the overall feel of the original. Colombian producers Liluca have already released several tracks on big name labels like Anjunadeep and Add2Basket, for their remix of Drift Away they use a heavy kick and arpeggio bassline whilst occasionally sampling some of the original elements. The end result is a well rounded floor thriller with a climax that combines the various layers played through the first half of the nine and a half minute mix.
Kultrun’s Drift Away is a prime cut of melodic progressive music; with a wide variety of mixes to choose from, this is yet another strong release for BeatGeek Records and an indication of what’s still to come
