KOS’ Global Underground Tour diary: Part 1

I’m sitting in Chicago O’Hare airport after the first night of our North America tour. I missed my flight. I was there on time, but the Toronto airport train wasn’t - it broke down. There are 3 hours until the next flight so I’ve got nothing to do but to write my first blog post.

Nic and I arrived yesterday in Chicago knowing that it was the first gig of a mammoth tour where we will be doing 21 gigs in 30 nights. So we both agreed we should take it easy on the first few nights, not drink too much and no after-parties until later on in the tour. That was the plan anyway. It didn’t quite happen that way.

We ended up getting back to the hotel at 9am (which was 3pm on our UK body clock time!) having been to an after-hours that Dino the promoter and his crew had organised. We just couldn’t say no after the gig at Spy Bar which was amazing and we were so well looked after that we felt obliged to continue the party with them!

They had also taken us to a great steak restaurant earlier in the evening called Gene & Georgetti which has been there since 1941 - a famous institution in the city and I recommend anyone to go there if you are a big eater like us!

Spy Bar has had a new makeover and it’s one of the best clubs in the USA for sure. For a Thursday night it was amazing how many people came out, raved all night and were still there shouting for more at 4am. I even spotted Derrick Carter on the dancefloor when I was playing - what a legend!

Nic has a later flight than me today so he is probably snoozing away now whilst I write this and will be much fresher for the gig tonight at ‘This Is London’ in Toronto. 

I’ve heard great things about this place so I’m excited about tonight. It’s my first time in Canada and we’ve also got Montreal on Saturday night so I’ll let you know how it all goes after the weekend - hope y’all have a good one (my first bit of Canadian / American slang, hehe)!
