KOS Global Underground Tour diary #4
KOS Global Underground Tour diary #4
13 June, 2009 | 11.50AMNic Fanciulli’s Global Underground tour finished off in style last Saturday with a packed house at Avalon in Hollywood.
Here touring buddy KOS says goodbye to the last three weeks of mayhem.

The tour comes to an end
I am with Nic in LAX airport waiting for the flight home to London, looking back at an amazing 5 weeks, which were rounded off with a great weekend in California.
First of all we would like to give a special thank you to Jorge in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and his team for looking after us there. It was a much needed relaxing few days on a very beautiful island before the final lap on the West Coast.
So we arrived in San Francisco to be greeted by the promoter Alessandro who told us that the excitement for the party was immense and that it was going to be packed out - always great to hear, and he was right!
The club Harlot is stunning and the people of San Fran know how to party. No pretentiousness - just cool friendly people creating an atmosphere more like a Saturday night than a Thursday. We will definitely go back.
Next morning it was an early flight to San Diego - one of our favourite cities in the USA. The gig might not have been the busiest on the tour but the people more than made up for it - a combination of crazy Mexicans and surfer dudes. Nic’s friend Amanda then drove us to
LA the next day (thank you Manda!) for the final gig of the tour.

SLS hotel, Beverly Hills (love this place)
We stayed at the new SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills which is one of the best hotels around - I recommend anyone to stay here if they are in LA. The gig was at the infamous Avalon. I gladly took a back seat for this gig because also on the line-up were M.A.N.D.Y, Matthew Dear and Damian Lazarus, as well as Nic.
The party was totally packed out - over 3000 people. Thank you to Avalon owner Kobi and the team for putting on such a great show and for looking after us all weekend.
Sunday was our final day in the USA so Kobi picked us up in the afternoon and took us to an amazing Korean Barbeque (our new found cuisine!) and then onto some cool parties around the city.
The thing about cool parties in LA is that you see lots of ‘fakers’ around. Fake people trying to meet people to further their careers. One particular moment that made me laugh was when we were in this place called the Foxtail club and Nic and I overheard our friend Trent telling this blonde playboy playmate that Nic was a successful global superstar DJ.
She had no idea who he was until then but instantly turned to Nic and said ‘Hi I’m Connie, I’m a big fan!’ It was classic LA!
We then went back to Kobi’s house and drank his drinks cabinet dry before heading back to our hotel to empty our minibars! Why is it that I always leave LA with the worse hangover ever?
So there it is. Our North American tour over for another year. Thank you to our amazing agents Bullitt for putting it all together, thanks to the promoters for hosting the parties and most importantly thank you to all the people who came to the shows.
I look forward now to a few days of more than four hours sleep. I will not miss waking up in the morning trying to work out which city I am in, living out of a suitcase, USA airport security checks, and tipping anything that moves.
But I will miss the great North American hospitality, hot weather, great food (big portions mmmm) and the great electronic music scene that exists here - we can’t wait to come back.

Man behind us, don’t give up the day job. [Taken at an Orlando Magic basketball game]
