King of the Witches

King of the Witches

Capracara [DFA]

If you’re one for the undiluted acid house of yesteryear, the UK’s Jonathan Burnip aka Capracara [a] might be your man to deliver the goods.

Burnip’s forays of late include remixes for Matt Edwards’ Rekids [l] imprint, a side project with Joel Martin of Quiet Village, and contributions to the disco label History Clock.

This year finds him back up to the plate for DFA with yet another acid-fuelled burner.

On the flip, the rework from NYC’s Rub ‘N’ Tug turn the tune into something even more sinister, with darkly hypnotic loops that threaten to spiral into a world of primitive hedonism.

All in all it’s a journey for the darker recesses of the dancefloor, with a title that is wholly fitting in its heathen implications.

(And check out the monster ‘Flashback 1986’ for a fine example of some of his earlier work.)
