Kenny Larkin releases new album
29 August, 2008 | 6.01AMAfter a bit of delay, the venerable Kenny Larkin of Detroit fame has a new album to be released on September 2nd titled ‘Keys, Strings and Tambourines’, on Carl Craig’s Planet E label.
Larkin states that it’s his most dancefloor-oriented album yet, and he actually did a bit of globe-trotting to find inspiration: Carl’s proper studio environment in Detroit found him hammering away, and while in Australia on tour he found enough head space to create ‘Glob Glob’, one of the singles he is particularly fond of.
This summer has found him busily on tour in Europe with his - believe it or not - stand-up comedy act.
Make us groove? Sure, that’s to be expected. Make us laugh? Now, that’s what I call multi-talented.
So what can we expect from this techno king this time around?
Killer production, Detroit roots and sensibilities, jazzy cuts and club bangers, complete with several extra tracks in an overall sophistication of sound from this seasoned player.
