Keep an eye on Trendy Mullet

We love the name and the artwork of Trendy Mullet, the record label run by up and coming UK underground house duo The Quirk Burglars; and you have to admire the honesty on their Myspace page.

“Trendy Mullet is a genre bending record label that sticks two fingers up to all the anal fuckers out there who follow passing fads because everyone else does! You don’t have to be cool to like our music, your name doesn’t have to be on the list! You’re all invited!” they shout from their UK base, whilst presumably downing pints of proper English bitter.

Of course, their name is all in good jest, and as the first Trendy Mullet release on Beatport shows, they’re all about fun and quirky house vibes (check it in the player).

Featuring tracks by Ladgroove and Matthew Random, the EP sits firmly on the wacky side of house music, with strange vocal samples like “have some milk?” blended with deep house beats and fidget-house style breakdowns.

It’s definitely not your run of the mill house label, and with Mark Farina, DJ Sneak and Jason Hodges already fans of Trendy Mullet’s physical offerings you should expect big things from this label in the coming year.
