Katy B, ‘Katy On A Mission’

I have to admit, I love this tune. It may be because none other than dubstep innovator and badman Benga produces the beat, or it may be because Katy B is as cute as a button. Most likely, though, it’s due to the falling melody of the chorus and how lines like ‘As we erupt into the ROooOOooOOM’ unwind and lodge into your head. Let’s just call it a perfect mixture of all of the above. So perfect of a mixture that we’re sure you won’t forget the name Katy B. She also turns up this week on the Count & Sinden’s ‘Hold Me,’ from their album ‘Mega Mega Mega’, and her debut album is rumored for release this year.

Don’t miss ‘Louder’ on the flip: with one of DJ Zinc‘s quintessential “crack house” beats, it splits the difference between dubstep and electro house, with Katy B’s supple voice smoothing the join.
