Kamm/Plain

Marcel Dettmann, Pigon [Beatstreet]...

Influential British techno label Downwards [l] are causing waves with their new imprint Sandwell District [l], as is Marcel Dettmann [a], Shed [a] and Sleeparchive [a], who have all picked up where Downwards left techno in the late 1990s.

Here the sound continues to evolve thanks to Pigon [a] who delivers a rare standout track that doesn’t re-invent the wheel but manages to sounds a little bit different to the rest.

His ‘Kamm’ has a special something about it, which makes an instant classic - I think it’s one of the techno highlights of 2008.

‘Plain’ is a solid and functional Marcel Dettmann [a] track.

It won’t fail to be picked up as it’s much better than the hundreds of other current techno releases out there, but still we’ve seen him deliver some much more exceptional quality lately.
